CN 3180 |
Description: |
Since we were staying in Morton, IL at the Holiday Inn outside of Peoria, we thought it would be natural to follow the CN south to Gilman then follow the TPW over toward Peoria. We started our time on the IC at the main classification yard in Homewood. Things were very dead upon arrival, but we knew we had CN L515 coming north, which usually sports IC SD70s. Unfortunately for us, as it got closer, CN Q119 pulled out of the yard to double up its train. The main parking at the gazebo was closed for construction and we had to park much closer to the yard lead than what we usually would. The odds of the intermodal train eclipsing the local were quite high now. |

IC 1021 and CN 3180 |
Description: |
And unfortunately that is exactly what happened. Thankfully there was just enough of an opening to get the two trains meeting. This could have definitely been a lot worse. In a way, this is actually pretty cool. |
