Because Nick had to be back in Fort Wayne before 6, we took US 24 out of Defiance back to New Haven. When we approached Cecil we saw something red sticking out behind the grain elevator so we took a pit stop and saw that PREX 105, the Gettysburg unit, was sitting with a flat car, tank car, and a cyndrilical hopper car in the grain elevator spur so we took some photos of it. |

Gettysburg Railway (PREX 105) sits parked for the weekend on the ND&W mainline with an eastbound local from Woodburn in Cecil. Usually when the crews tie down trains in Cecil, they will park them on the LaFarge lead. But, due to a tank car and a ballast cleaner on the lead, I would guess they had to sit it in this location. |

Would have been cool to catch this moving. Even though they have done very good work repairing the tracks from the MAW, Cecil still is one of the worst locations on the line. Would be cool to see a train leaning at a 75-80 degree angle. And, along with the engines unique paint scheme compared to the rest of the black and yellow PREX engines assigned to the ND&W, this unit has a very unique horn. |

After NS 205, things began to quiet down so I figured it was a good time to cut it and go straight down to CSX at Defiance. However, no visit to Defiance is complete without a visit to the Napoleon Defiance and Western, and now since PREX 3001 and PREX 2026, both ATSF Bluebonnets are on the property, that made the visit more exciting. Ended up getting a shot of PREX 105 first, the Gettysburg GP9 highood. |

Of course, no visit to Defiance is complete without a visit to the ND&W yard. Both the Santa Fe painted GP20u and the Gettysburg GP9 were present. With the recent acquisition of Patriot Rail buying out Pioneer, it is uncertain how long the fleet of old EMDs will last on the ND&W. So, still shots or moving, it is best to get as many as I can. |

Unfortunately, the time for the Gettysburg GP9 has officially come to an end. The unit is in the process of being sold to Robert Rileys Rock Island Railroad (Mississippi Delta property) to be paired with its sister, 107, again. The Gettysburg unit continues to sit and wait for disposition. It was originally supposed to go down to the Mississippi Delta Railroad where it would be reunited with its sister unit 107. But, the railroad was recently sold to a different company, so Im unsure if there are still plans to send it down there or not. |
