While we knew we had a few more NS trains out there, we heard over the radio way up north in Bucyrus that Wheeling 431 was receiving a warrant west on the CF&E at Colsan. We decided to forgo our NS traffic and try our best to get north to Upper Sandusky to grab the Wheeling. Thankfully, we did end up making it just in time to see the sole SD40-2 leading its fairly hefty train of gondolas bound for the IORY in Lima. |

Soon, CSX B160 came rolling into town with a pleasant surprise on the front; a CP GEVO. This train comes directly off the CP at Bensenville, but with declining coal/coke traffic, this train doesnt run very often anymore. It was a nice catch underneath the giant Heritage Coop elevator! |

CSX had just spotted a train at Heritage Coop shortly before we arrived in Upper, the crew was picked up by a van and taken north and west to North Baltimore, but the power had been left behind sitting at the Mennel Mill on the north side of town, which gave us a chance to shoot the centercab switcher there, and the CSX power from the grain train. |

Marion was going to be our original stopping location for the day, but with the Wheeling that obviously changed. With the days getting longer, however, we decided to work south and spend the remainder of the day around town. NS has just recently began parking their local power on the wye connecting with the CSX B-Line by AC Tower. NS 6155, a former N&W SD40-2, is the currently power for the local. This engine used to be a regular resident of the Fort Wayne area, but it has been gone for quite some time. Good to see that it is still out there kicking. |
