We went to get supper at Culvers and I saw that L-CHI103 was getting ready to blast out of the yard north on the Barstow Sub. We hurried to Henderson thinking we would not have much time. We ended up waiting an hour for the train to double up, and even gave up at one point, but after we gave up the train had been lined and we went back. Since it was a local, we assumed it would have some nice standard cab power on the front. Big CN GEs rolled through Henderson at track speed though. Definitely would not have waited on it that long if I would have known this was the power, but regardless. It was a good way to end the day. Show day tomorrow! |

And from NS 21G came the chase of a lifetime. We had left the CP 395 signals and heard on the scanner the sound on a train callini signals. We figured it was NS 21G but we were wrong. It was eastbound NS 14Q with a CN leading. It had gotten in front of us at Wawaka. So to attempt to try to catch the tqain, which never slowed down below 50 MPH we chased the train from Ligonier to just east of Waterloo just barely beating it! |

A dreary, old morning to start the longest day of the year and DAy 2 of the Galesburg Trip. We got up fairly early and ate breakfast at the hotel before heading out to the IC mainline to New Orleans to catch a couple CN trains. We got knto Bradley, IL, a suburb of Kankakee and to our surpise when we crossed the tracks there was a slow moving manifest heading south. The reason it was moving so slow was due to a 10 MPH speed restriction just behind us. Of course, raindrops had to alter this shot bu there isnt much you can do when it is raining as hard as it was there! |
