Hearing on the scanner that the MOW was clearing up to let CSX Q360 and CSX J784 through the area. We quickly rushed back to CSX rails. We waited for quite some time, and never caught Q360, but we did get J784. Thanks to the friendly MOW crew for keying up both trains and seeing where they were. After lots of waiting the local came along and backed down into the yard, with some pretty sweet power. |

Today my dad and I are going to the Great Midwest Train Show in Wheaton, IL. After church and going to the show, we planned on doing some railfanning afterwords along the UP Geneva Sub and CN in West Chicago. On our way to Wheaton we cross over CN Markham Yard and BNSFs Willow Springs Intermodal Terminal, and since I now have a DSLR I figured maybe I could try to get some shots off the highway since I have a better camera. Despite having a better camera, everything was still garbage. But it was something. An autorack sits on the mainline at Markham in Homewood as we cross over the CN. |

It is pretty rare to see NS sit power of any kind in this spot. The 2 CN units and NS unit sit on the south lead to the WBCR yard in Bluffton. This is the first time that Ive seen any kind of power that wasnt bad order sit in this spot. Made for better photos than the first time for sure! The 3 UP units that were with these engines ended up taking an ethanol train north the day that I got photos of them. I am guessing they moved the power here because they had no room for them in the ethanol plant or the outbound train would not be ready for several days so they moved them here to get them out of the way. Definitely a good spot to sit them, for me that is! |
