WE 6316
Title:  WE 6316
Description:  WE 6316 starts to lead a local west on the Chicago line out of East Wayne yard in New Haven. This unit has been on the NS system for quite a while and this is actually the first time I saw it leading. My dad has seen it leading numerous trains many times though.

Description:  The train stops momentarily over the RJ Corman to clear up their track warrant and to let the Ohio Central get settled in the yard. Even after all these years that Wheeling has owned these lease units, it is still very possible to see these mix/matched consists.

Title:  WE 6989
Description:  As CNL1 was pulling in, WE 213 recieved a restricting at the connection between the OHCR and the WE and creeped into the yard with a mix bag of power, including an ex-BNSF leader, an ex-KCS trailing last, and an AVR unit in the middle of the mess.

WE 7001
Title:  WE 7001
Description:  When I arrived back to the location I left the tripod at it was gone. I thought I had lost it forever, but then I noticed a sign posted in the exact spot that a camera had been left there and to call that number to retrieve it. I did so, and a very nice gentleman came out and gave me back my camera. Ironically, it was the WE dispatcher from this morning who had found it. He knew exactly what it was for and what I was doing so far away from home. I couldnt have been more thankful for him and his generosity in keeping my camera safe. With that, I had my camera back, and Wheeling 221 was preparing to head west out of the yard for Bellevue. I decided to hang out at the Sommer-Kidron Elevator on the southwest side of Dalton for it. In no time at all, 4 tigers zoomed around the corner. Three of which were engines from this mornings stone train, including the Rio Grande Tunnel Motor and the 50 Years OLS Sticker (which was on the front).

WE 7004
Title:  WE 7004
Description:  The Wheeling 708 power for that evening was set out on the wye outside the Lorain County Fairgrounds so I decided to go down and grab a few roster shots of the power. An ex-CEFX blue leaser was included, one of a handful of them.

WE 7004
Title:  WE 7004
Description:  It had been rumored, and then confirmed that Wheeling was sending a 431 into Lima this evening with a sand train in tow for the CFE. One of the blue CEFX leasers would be leading a trio of tiger SD40-2s. With the fading light, I knew that I would have to go east if I wanted to see it in any light at all. I began working east and ended up catching up with them at Dunkirk. This wasnt the shot I had in mind, but I will take it.

WE 7004
Title:  WE 7004
Description:  The sun had completely set by the time the train made it to the turned PLs outside of Ada. The frame was thrown out of focus when the train entered it as well, so not the greatest shot by any means, but I hope to tune it up with some new editing software I will be buying. Regardless, a pretty banger way to end the day!

WE 7015
Title:  WE 7015
Description:  Wheeling 237 was waiting on a signal to get onto CSX and head to Willard as well. After clearing up some traffic ahead, ID gives them the light and they cross Chenango Road. Some nice color here accented the orange stripes on the lead tiger.

WE 7024
Title:  WE 7024
Description:  When I got to Greenwich things were quiet on both CSX ends. But, I heard CSX Z577, aka Wheeling 237 for Willard, asking for permission onto CSX rails at New London. About 15-20 minutes later the train coasted around the bend from the Greenwich Sub onto the Willard Sub. A nice start to a full day of trilights!

WE 7024
Title:  WE 7024
Description:  But, the day STILL wasnt over, as when I arrived back in Willard, Wheeling 238 keyed up CSX and told them they were ready to make a dash to the New London connection. I backtracked a little further to the east again, but ended up finding no color that really suited my interest until right outside of Greenwich (a place I had kept telling myself I wouldnt go to today). The train creeped around the curve and ended up stopping for two trains on the B-Line ahead, one of which was already crossing when I made it there.

WE 7024
Title:  WE 7024
Description:  I was hoping to get 238 splitting the trilights, but it was too quick for me. So, a shot of it slinging around the curve will do. After this, I bid goodbye to CSX and began making my way towards home. I did, however, decide to stop in Plymouth to see if a crew had come to retrieve the Ashland. Sure enough, the train was gone. Go figure.

WE 7025
Title:  WE 7025
Description:  With genuinely no idea what to do now, I decided that I was going to grab CSX trains west of Willard and get as far as I could before dark. That was before I heard the Wheeling Dispatch give a track warrant to WE 228 leaving Bellevue eastbound. It was a risk to drive that far, but thanks to the helpful aid of Matt Arnold, I took the risk, and ended up beating the train to the Laylin Road crossing east of Norwalk. I met Matt there as well, and we began chasing the train east.

WE 7025
Title:  WE 7025
Description:  The crew was instructed to take the train to Brighton siding north of Wellington instead of tying it down in Hartland, which gave us a chance to shoot the train under the massive grain elevator at West Clarksfield, a bucket list shot I have been wanting for some time. Due to slow orders, the train would have been easy to continue chasing, but I decided against it and parted ways with Matt and began heading back west. At least there was one upside to this day.
