We were counting on the locomotive to shove to Steubenville then pull north to Angola to be staged for the runs the following day. However, we were not quite that lucky, as they were just moving the locomotive to Brightmark to fill the tender with water. We went down that direction, and while we were grabbing some shots, we heard "NKP 358 departing Pleasant Lake eastbound". We swore our afternoon on the INER couldnt get better, but it just continued to! We moved to Steubenville, and sure enough, the SD9 was rounding the bend at Steubenville and would pull west to Ashley. We hunkered down on the west side of town and watched the solo locomotive pass the codeline bound for Ashley/Hudson. |

NKP 358 trails on the rear of the consist, on the final few hundred feet of its journey back to the yard in Hudson. The two engines would be paired together for the following days runs in and out of Angola. Shockingly enough, it was only John and I out for this short, and pretty awesome move. What a great few hours on the Indiana Northeastern! |
