I started making my way back toward Edgerton when I heard the crew of CP 147 crackle over the radio. I stopped just west of Blakeslee to see it roaring west on the Wabash through the countryside. |

A mental error ended up being a big mistake for me. A westbound was coming at the same time, and I knew I should have walked back to the road if not a little further down to try to get a shot without the stack train eclipsing it. However, I hoped the stack train would clear in time to grab it coming by the other codeline polls behind me. Well, the stack train cleared and CP 2-231 showed up right in front of me, so all I managed to get was this roster shot of the solo CP unit going away. Thankfully, my Dad didnt get fooled, and managed to get a good shot of the train approaching at the crossing. |

A rebuilt CP AC4400CW (now AC44C4M) trails 2nd on the oil train. They sure look a lot nicer with the Beaver logo on them than some of the "newer" engines. The Beaver logo was recently introduced back to CP and will now be sported on all the rebuilt and new engines that CP orders. The AC4400CWs were starting to look crummy so it definitely was about time to rebuild and repaint them. |

CP 130 (the old CP 140) closes out my day with a pair of CP GEs up front. A total of 28 trains passed the camera today. While it wasnt the busiest Ive ever seen the Chicago Line, the number of BNSF leaders and trailers was mind boggling; a total of 7 had BNSFs leading and 5 more had BNSFs trailing which brought up a total of 12 trains with at least 1 BNSF unit in the consist. Just under half! Orange is my favorite color so I have no complaints! A fun day on the busy mainline! |
