With A491 already out of Battle Creek, I knew our best bet was to go to the signal furthest to the west at Wakelee. I was skeptical that we would actually make it. But, thanks to a defect detector grabbing the train east of Schoolcraft, we ended up having more than enough time. Eventually, the problem was resolved and the train came rolling by the signal, kicking up some fresh snow that had fallen during the morning. |

But the day wasnt completely over, as CN had a few trains nearby when we approached Kingsbury on US 35. We stopped for one last train at the intermediates southwest of town, which was CN Q116 with a SD70M-2 leader and a Dash 9 in trail. Despite the color not being that great, the day spent together was very enjoyable! Plenty of trains and variety. A good trip to Michiana! |

After one last fun day in Dixieland with our cousins, includinga visit to the Titanic Museum and the world famous Comedy Bar, my aunt, grandma, brother set off for Cincinnati where we would stay one more night. But we cant leave the Bluegrass State without a tiny bit of train spotting. First we stopped at Colonel Sanders home town, to not eat chicken, but to view CSXs big Corbin Yard. As you can see by the picture there is a baretable train. an ethanol train. and a grain train ready to get a new crew and head north out of the yard. |

Things went quiet after Amtrak, so I decided to move south to Onarga to sit for a bit. I waited a while until I could hear a TPW out of Gilman begin to work the Incobrasa Plant. I panicked and moved into Gilman to find that they were nowhere close to being ready to head east. Of course, as soon as I got back, CN sent a northbound. I tried to get back to Onarga, but I couldnt. Thankfully, I was able to outrace M335 to Danforth and grab it coming by the elevator and depot. |
