AMTK 4613
Title:  AMTK 4613
Description:  As luck would have it, the dispatcher set the signal green right behind the manifest, and about 30 minutes later along came the northbound AMTK 390, the Saluki. Three Chargers on this vacation! Train was running about 2 hours behind though. After I caught this I went back and ate my hamburger at Dennys, which was giagantic may I add, and we continued east following the TPW.

AMTK 4614
Title:  AMTK 4614
Description:  AMTK 383, the westbound Illinois Zephyr, passes the BP Feed grain elevator, in Oneida, IL. This would be the final train of the day. Caught a total of 33 trains today, which brings the trip total up to 167. Pretty good day even though we didnt do what we were planning to do. Tomorrow though we will stick with the Mendota Sub for most of the day, starting in Mendota and working east. Will be considerably less busy tomorrow but we should still see some neat trains! So long to Day 5!

AMTK 4618
Title:  AMTK 4618
Description:  The further west we went the more snow we got into. By the time we got to Chenoa, you couldnt see in any direction. We pulled into the McDonalds parking lot and ended up getting stuck in the heavy, deep, wet snow. We were forced to stay the evening at the Americas Best Value Inn along the Interstate in town, which ended up having no vacancy later that night due to the storm. I attempted to go get shots of AMTK 20 in the heavy snow that afternoon. The only way I could go catch it would be having to walk for a half a mile. Thats pretty hard to do with it snowing so hard you can barely see your hand in front of your own face. I left just a little too late and missed it. Didnt even see the power because of the snow falling so hard. I waited another hour and a half and finally by that point the snow had started to calm down a bit so I could walk down and catch AMTK 304, Lincoln Service train, headed north with my first Siemens Charger unit leading! By this point there was about a Foot of snow on the ground and I could see 3 different wrecks from where I was standing by the UP tracks waiting for the Amtrak train. The tracks that run north/south through Chenoa are owned by UP, but are mostly used by Amtrak for their Lincoln Service trains and the Texas Eagle.

AMTK 4620
Title:  AMTK 4620
Description:  The stay at the hotel wasnt really as bad as I figured it would be. Not quite used to staying in the roadside inns but this was was pretty nice! By morning the parking lot was cleared out enough that we were able to get out and get moving towards I39 and Wisconsin. Before we left though we stayed around just long enough that I could photograph one more Lincoln Service train, this one being AMTK 300 with Siemens unit AMTK 4620 leading

AMTK 4620 and CBQ 4978
Title:  AMTK 4620 and CBQ 4978
Description:  Today dad and I are beginning Day 6 of our Galesburg Trip, the latter half of it. This morning we started our day in Mendota, IL. We spent the night in the Quality Inn and Suites off of I39 just outside of town. The hotel sits not far from the BNSF Mendota Sub. When we woke up we witnessed an eastbound manifest pass with an H1 Dash 9 2nd out. We finally got out of the hotel as AMTK 381, the westbound Carl Sanburg, came into town. We got caught up in road construction which allowed it to pass us. Just as we got to the station the train began to continue west. Got it just in the nick of time to get it passing the CBQ steam engine on display at the station!

AMTK 4632
Title:  AMTK 4632
Description:  Rainy, dark, and too fast for this one. AMTK 391, the southbound Saluki rips by us at 70MPH outside of Manteni, IL. Shutter speed slowed down way too much for this shot.
