BNSF 8172 |
Description: |
PTC got them again just outside of Dallas City, allowing us to get back ahead of it and catch it splitting the two interesting buildings that sit!on both sides of the tracks. PTC was catching just about every high priority intermodel train the rest of the evening, showing a red signal even though the signal was green ahead. |

BNSF 8199 |
Description: |
With the recent eradication of trilight signals along the CSX Indianapolis Line Subdivision between Marion, OH and Union City, OH, I have been in search of getting as many of these late 80s early 90s installment signals as possible. While in no danger yet, the signals along the much busier Greenwich Subdivision were the target of this years birthday trip. I got up early in the morning and started my 2 1/2 hour journey east to Greenwich where I would try to get every single pair of signals between Greenwich and Berea. It began to get light before I ended up getting to CSX, however, and when I crossed over the NS Sandusky District on US 30 at Bucyrus I noticed NS 277 parked underneath the bridge with a pair of BNSF units. I decided to not let that go to waste and quick grabbed a shot of the train before continuing to CSX at Greenwich. |

Description: |
Unfortunately W014 was short enough to allow 2 trains coming into Deshler on the Garrett/Willard Subs to not have to stop. It was either shoot a very backlit B158 going east, or shoot a better lit I171 with BNSF power going west. I chose CSX I171. I had to do a little chasing, but I got far enough out ahead of it to shoot it across a field about 2 miles west of town. |

Not too many intermodel trains take this route from the Transcon and onto the Burlington. Not a lot of trains in general come west off the Transcon and onto the Burlington actually. Considerably less intermodel traffic on the Burlington side but there are some stack trains. |

We left the yard to get to a location to catch the Illinois Terminal coming out of the yard. Though when we got out a lot of trains were coming in on the Ottumwa Sub (aka the bypass). When we got up to the bypass AMTK 4, the eastbound Southwest Chief, was dropping the gates. An eastbound sand train was already sitting there. Thankfully we got out just in time to catch them both |

BNSF 8262 |
Description: |
Today my dad and I are starting Day 3 of our Galesburg Railroad Days trip. Today we will work the BNSF Transcon Main to Galesburg. We started off the morning in Toluca to catch a couple trains on the "Coal Jumbo" a giant hill that overlooks the town and the railroad. It was very muddy from the evening before so I was the only one who went up. Just a bit too cloudy still and hazy from all the humidity to get a good shot of any train up there. Too many trees in the way to get a clear view as well. But I went up there anyways. First came an westbound intermodel with 5 BNSF engines. |

Description: |
I moved into town and decided to try to shoot the next couple of trains crossing the Maumee River. I had never done that before as many times as I have been here. It took some time finding a good place to park, but eventually I did and I began the waiting game. I knew I had both an eastbound and a westbound approaching, but I couldnt tell where each of them were. All of a sudden I heard the North Bend Defect Detector go off and sure enough, there went my eastbound which was Q370 with the NCSTL sticker unit on the point. With aggravation now running through my veins, I decided to stay up on the bridge to insure that I would not miss my westbound. After a little more waiting, CSX Q171 roared west through town with the usual pair of BNSF GEVOs |

BNSF 8273 heads south light, long hood forward, through a snow shower in Ossian. The power that I caught a couple of days ago on the WBCR lead wasnt strong enough to lead the outbound ethanol train out of the plant, so they sent this unit down to be the lead engine. Was pretty cool to see a wide cab unit LHF! |

Description: |
Back in Butler, I got another "usually evening" move in NS 25N, which featured a solo BNSF GE on the front. After the full introduction of PSR, NS flopped some of the intermodal traffic symbols to different terminals. NS 25/26N come from the UP now whereas NS 22/23K come from BNSF. Despite it being a train bound for UP tracks, a BNSF unit found its way on the front. |
