TPW 2105 and TPW 5010
Title:  TPW 2105 and TPW 5010
Description:  As luck would have it, there was another TPW train already in the yard faced east. This one had TPW 2105, which was with TPW 3440 when we were coming, and TPW 510. Once again, not the best shots, but couldnt just let it slip.

CFE 2131 and NS 9320
Title:  CFE 2131 and NS 9320
Description:  While following CF&E, I happened to get lucky just west of Warsaw. Both the 04 and 01 crews were flopping trains with one another in the siding west of town. Todays rendition of CF&E 01 was a CP Corn Train bound for the IORY in Lima. Sadly, todays train had a pair of black and white Dash 9s...

CFE 2131
Title:  CFE 2131
Description:  Yesterday evening, I got word that an rare train with an even more rare leader was going to be running east on the CF&E today. Last week, the FRA Geometry Train ran in to Fort Wayne and would be continuing east the following week. Usually NS provides the power for this train, but somehow, someway, a CN SD40-2W got tacked on the front, and ended up making it this far and would remain on the train well into Ohio. I can bet the former PRR has not seen a SD40-2W leader since NS was regularly running trains along it nearly 2 decades ago, so it was a no brainer to head up to Fort Wayne and make chase of it. When I got up there, the FRA crew members were just arriving onto the property so I had some time to get some photos of some other trains. Surprisingly, a loaded welded rail train was sitting right at the distant PL. While it isnt the best photo, its the first time Ive gotten to shoot a train (though stopped) beside this signal, and it was the final active PRR signal I had to get a shot of that remains on the CF&E side of the former PRR Fort Wayne Line.

CFE 2132 and CFE 3024
Title:  CFE 2132 and CFE 3024
Description:  Today my dad and I started Day 1 of our 6 day outing to Galesburg Railroad Days. My dad has done this every summer for 20 years now but this is the first year that I have ever gone, and we sure saw some cool trains! To start off the trip, we began in Fort Wayne. We heard a CFE train get track authority to continue east out of Piqua Yard, but it never showed up. So we decided to just go into the yard to photograph the engines in the yard. Right up front was a pair of orange units patiently waiting for their next assignment.

CFE 2132
Title:  CFE 2132
Description:  It was still a little to early to get supper at any of the stops along US 30 on the way home, so I decided to go home via Decatur, something I usually dont do when I come home from this direction. Man, am I glad I did though. The closer I approached Decatur I could hear the CFE Decatur Local working. Bunge builds CFEs entire train now, so I knew there was a slight chance if I was hearing this much switching going on that they might be down at Tenki-Plex on the west side of town on a small stretch of the former Erie Lackawanna. I went down there and didnt find them, and I almost gave up, but I looked to my right along US 27 and noticed lights blinking at the Adams Street crossing. I dashed for the tracks and sure enough the train consisting of two geeps and a single car from Tenki-Plex were getting ready to shove back toward Bunge. I quick attached my flash on my D610 and ran toward the depot, and prayed I would be able to get a good shot of the train passing the depot. And, sure enough, I did. In all my life living in this area, there has only been one other time Ive seen a train pass the depot, which was already over five years ago. This day was beyond disappointing, but the small wins scattered in it here and there were so welcome!

CFE 2132
Title:  CFE 2132
Description:  Heading back into town I could hear the Decatur Local putting the last few touches on their train before departing south. However, they had to wait on the yard job to finish working the GM transload. Over an hour later, and even the crew toning up the yard job telling them "wed like to depart soon", the train was given the go-ahead out of the yard just after sunset. I actually had given up on them, but I heard them get their permission from the yard job to come on down right as I was approaching the Marion Center Road exit on I469, so it was an easy trot back to the Adams Center Road crossing to grab one shot of it passing the last few standing codeline polls.

CFE 2132
Title:  CFE 2132
Description:  I decided to grab one more shot of them at Hessen Cassel Road on the Decatur Branch ducking underneath I469 before heading back toward home. The rail replacement project has been completed, and I was curious to see if track speed had been increased. They were maybe going about 15 at this spot. Hopefully Ill be able to see them in daylight sometime soon a bit further south to see if that 25 MPH track speed ever came to fruition!

IORY 2134
Title:  IORY 2134
Description:  After the LSL cleared, the B Job was granted a warrant to go down and work the fertilizer depot south of Jackson Center. These old IORY signs are left in several places where there were once sidings along the right-of-way. The one in Jackson Center happens to be right in the parking lot of an antique store so I was able to finally get a shot with one of the signs!

Title:  IORY 2134
Description:  After grabbing the remainder of their train at Plastipak, the B Job headed back north for Lima. One shot that I had been waiting to get was a shot of a train passing the elevator from atop the US 33 overpass. Despite it being backlit and long hood forward, I had nothing better to do so I decided to finally get that shot. Turned out pretty well!

IORY 2134
Title:  IORY 2134
Description:  Unfortunately as L73 was coming in, RJ Corman snuck back out and went west toward home base in Celina. I decided it wasnt worth chasing if I was already so far behind so I stayed in the IORY yard, knowing the Lima B Job would be coming back from the north soon. Sure enough, I heard them call DT&I Junction, and set up by the searchlight signal at Bible Road. IORY 2134 is riding solo today, heading back to the yard office at Ford Yard.

Description:  Moving over to CP GI by the Galesburg Prison, we took a look at the Galesburg deadline. A ton of BNSF Dash 9s are here after the leases will or have expired on them this year. Its a shame to see that some of these units, which arent even all that old, will no longer be running on BNSF rails. Feels weird even. These were commonplace back when I was a child up to maybe 2-3 years ago at most.

Description:  I had been crossing my fingers before making this trip that somehow we would manage to stumble across the CIND first shift job coming back from Greensburg. This train had pretty regularly been running out to Greensburg on Mondays, but very early in the morning. I happened to look on Facebook when we were done with the IERR, and sure enough, they were on their way back reported in New Point just after noon. Knowing we had enough time to get over there, we took a quick bathroom break and headed for the concrete bridge over Bonnell Road and the Whitewater River west of Guilford, IN. The train took much longer to arrive to our local than either one of us had expected, which we later figured out was due to crossing malfunctions in Batesville. But, the wait was worth it!

Description:  The CIND Local crosses the Whitewater River a second time over the big steel bridge between Hooven and Elizabethtown along US 50. Three giant shots that I wasnt sure if we would get today. The day continued to get better!

Description:  Our gambling paid off. Majorly. Sure enough, the second shift CIND job was up working Seimer Mills. We honestly could not believe our eyes, but given how today had gone so far, it should not have been a surprise! This line in particular has always been of interest to me, given its true branch line feel following the Whitewater River. Some buildings along the tracks are mere feet from the rails! Due to a major washout in 2013(?), IORY opted to abandon the line north of West Harrison as the cost of rebuilding was too much, despite the glass factory in Brookville being such a large customer. Since then, sand is still delivered by rail, but it is transloaded from rail ro road from Camden to Brookville from Norfolk Southern. Most of the rail remains in place though, so. if traffic volumes increase, there is no saying that it wont be rebuilt. But, it isnt looking likely. Despite that, we at least still have this small section of the Brookville Sub left! We set up shop at Broadway Street and about 15 minutes later IORY L272, as the crew was calling themselves, called departin Seimer Mills. Look how close that building is to the rails! There were several locations along this branch line like this. But, the only place to see something like this with a train still running is here in West Harrison.
