Title:
IAIS 515
Description:
After the grain trains, things finally began to die down on the Mendota Sub, and we knew we wouldnt have anything more before it got too dark. We decided to head down to the Transcon to finish the day. When we got to Peru/La Salle, however, we heard IAIS CBBI key up CSX Dispatch to get a warrant to continue east toward Blue Island. We had already passed the exit we needed to get off at in order to chase it, so we got off at the next exit and turned around. When we went over the tracks the train was already passing underneath us, so we quick got on to I80 and drove far enough east to where we thought we were well out ahead of it. We ended up stopping in Ottawa, realizing that we got there well before the train. The sun ended up setting and a storm rolled in before the train showed up, which was only doing 10 MPH through town, but we got it with just enough light. What a way to end a trip! Despite being shorter than usual Galesburg trips, we came away with good buys at the show and a lot of great trains go to along with them! Another successful Galesburg trip with dad!
